News and Views: 2018–19 Season – 27 November 2018

This week saw the Second Round of the Cup competition. Seven of the eight matches were won by the teams that went second; the only team to buck this trend were the Dolphin Dragons.

There were lots of close games however: six of the eight were won by a margin of ten points or fewer, with one of 13 and one of 21. The closest game was at the Church House Bollington, where the home team won by two points.

Two B League teams (Rushton Diamonds and Plough Horntails) have gone through to the Cup quarter finals, and congratulations to the Pack Horse Bowling Club on being the last C League team left in this competition.

The Plate quarter finals will be contested by the eight teams that lost in the First Round of the Cup. There are three B League teams and five C League teams. There will be at least two C League teams in the Plate semi–finals.

In total, there are five A League teams, five B League teams and six C League teams remaining in this season's knockout competitions.

The quarter finals will be played on 22 January 2019. The questions will be set by the Ox–fford and Waters Green Rams. These two teams will provide three question masters each; the Cock Inn and the Sutton Mutton will provide one question master each. Four teams will have the night off.
