George Harrison's Last Words

I don't remember ever hearing this one before; even so, I did guess George Harrison because he's one of the most famous 20th century musicians that most of us remember and who's no longer with us. Someone in our team suggested John Lennon, but as far as I know the unfortunate Lennon was in no state to say anything after being shot four times in the back.

George Harrison is however one of those people on whose last words there is less than universal agreement.

The Internet has many accounts of Ringo Starr's last conversation with George Harrison: for example, this one on Society of Rock. Ringo is quoted as saying that despite his friend being too ill to sit up, George's last words to him were "Do you want me to come with you?" But there is no suggestion that these were the last words that George ever spoke.

My Google search failed to reveal many mentions of George's last words. This page on medium.com ("the smartest takes on topics that matter") was one of the few.

The words "love one another" are said to have been recorded by George's widow, Olivia. They're exactly what most of us, I'm sure (including Olivia), would have wanted him to say. But doesn't that maybe make it a little suspicious?

This answer on Quora, from someone called David Virgil (who claims to be a songwriter), claims that "At the time of [George's] death his wife Olivia and son Dhani were by his side as he lay on his couch. There were 2 Gurus chanting over him and he said Hare Krishna as he slipped away."

And that's all we seem to have, actually. On balance, I think we should maybe believe Olivia Harrison rather than David Virgil.
