Seven games this week were won by the teams that went "second first". The three teams that managed to buck this trend were the Waters Green Lemmings, Robin Hood and Park Taverners; the first and third of these won by a single point.
Most games do however seem to have gone to form. Biggest surprise of the week was possibly the Waters Green Lemmings' single–point victory over the Dolphin Dragons, who started (and remain) four places above them in the B League. The other single–point margin was the Park Taverners' victory over the Sutton Mutton.
Biggest movers of the week were the Church House Bollington, who moved up from sixth place to third in the A League following their victory over the Queens.
In the B League, the only change was that the Robin Hood swapped places with the Plough Horntails following their second victory of the season; they are now in fifth place, while the Horntails drop to sixth.
Also enjoying their second win of the season were the Pack Horse Bowling Club, who moved up from eighth place to sixth in the C League as a result.
Congratulations to Alan Hodgson, whose 57 was the highest individual score of the season so far. Batting second on the team that went "second first", the only question that defeated Alan was the one about the Woodstock lyrics. This was in Round 6 of the General Knowledge ... frustratingly, probably just about the point when Alan was starting to think about the Maximum Break! (Apologies for the mixed sporting metaphor ... )
Close behind was Ashton Davies with 54. Ashton got a full house in the General Knowledge questions; the two that he missed out on were in rounds 3 and 7 of the Specialists – the ones about the Ultra Low Emmissions Zone acronym and Stoke–on–Trent's link to the RMS Titanic.
There were also four scores in the 40s – including two in the B League, for Jim Kennelly (48) and Jon Thompson (42). Highest score in the C League was 33, which was achieved by four people.
There were 19 personal bests this week, and 27 people failed to better their lowest scores of the season.

It was very much a game of two halves for the Royal Oak's questions. The Specialists scored well all round (except for a slightly disappointing Entertainment mark) and are currently second only to the Park Timers' Specialist set from Week 4. The General Knowledge on the other hand scored poorly for both Difficulty and Balance, and are 12th out of 14.
Most teams found the Specialist questions fairly easy; on average, teams scored 110% of their average scores. The spreadsheet detected a slight bias towards the teams that went second, who scored on average 111% of their average scores, while those that went second scored 109%.
According to the spreadsheet, the General Knowledge questions were of exactly average difficulty for the teams that went first (second in the Specialists), but teams that went second (first in the Specialists) scored only 89% of their averages.
Overall, the teams that went "first first" scored 98% of their average scores, while those that went "second first" scored 104%. On an average team score of 139, this could have made a difference of eight or nine points; this may have been enough to influence the results of two games.
The bias that the spreadsheet detected is perhaps borne out by the fact that seven of the ten games were won by the teams that went "second first".
Neither set scored well for Entertainment and they currently sit 9th and 12th, out of 14, in that respect.
