Questions

Of the 11 games played this week, 6 were won by a team who went "first first", i.e. first in the Specialist Round, with 5 won by teams going the other way around. The 6 teams who won going "first first" were:

Cup – Round 1

The draw has now been made for Round 1 of the Cup, which will be played in two weeks' time on 25/10/2016. The 26 teams in the League are all playing and there are no additional teams this year.

As we have 26 teams, the format will be that in the first round there will be 10 games between 20 teams, leaving 6 teams to ask the questions. 2 of these 6 teams will set the questions, with the other 4 teams having a "bye".

The 10 winners of the games in Round 1 will go forward to the next round of the Cup whilst the 10 losers will go into the Plate. The 6 teams who are not playing in Round 1 will join the 10 winners to make the last 16 for the Cup. All will be explained for Round 2 etc. as we go through the season.

Questions for the night will be set by the Weaver and the Royal Oak.

The 4 teams with "byes" are the Plough Horntails, Wharfies, Park Taverners and Church House Bollington.

The Weaver and the Royal Oak will supply 3 Question Masters each to cover the games to be played. The other 4 teams – Plough Horntails, Wharfies, Park Taverners and Church House Bollington – will provide 1 further Question Master each to complete the 10 games. Please decide beforehand who is going so we don't have to call anyone on the night.
