We still haven't decided on a new name for the SEMA Trophy – do keep your suggestions coming. I also still need subscription money from just three teams – you know who you are ...
My thanks to the Harrington Academicals for stepping in and asking some B League questions this week ' much appreciated.
Congratulations to the Castle who become the first team to be guaranteed promotion this season. They can do no worse than second in the B League and are contesting the title with (most likely at present) the Waters Green Wonderers.
I would just like to précis what I said last week for the benefit of anyone who missed it, and even for those who didn't ...
In recent years we have lost a few teams from the League and not replaced them at the same rate. We have 26 teams this year and I am aware one or two of them are considering their position as to whether to play next year.
I believe we are at a point where we need to attract some new blood and widen our base of operations if we wish to continue in our current vein. How many teams or more particularly players in those teams can you think of who haven't been doing this for a long time? Now is the time to do something rather than over the summer.
I will try and get something in the local Press, but we need to use some 'word of mouth' to get some new pubs on board. There are very few pubs that don't have a quiz of some sort at some time, albeit not quite like this one. Can I ask that you all consider 'tapping up' some new resources in any way you can?
Any ideas, comments or suggestions gratefully received.
Next week will see the last League games of this season with much still up for grabs. The C League has the most unresolved issues, albeit only some unlikely mathematics or a complete failure to turn up should realistically stop the Church House Bollington from being Champions in their first season. There are also lots of people in all three Leagues who could still get into the Top 1†individual places.
